Ian’s skills were developed during a stellar career in the British Foreign Service. A consummate diplomat, Ian honed his skills to connect people and develop business opportunities during postings in New York, Lagos, Moscow, Ottawa, Vancouver and New Delhi. The intricacies of varied cultures refined his abilities to bridge the gaps that exist between people and businesses.

Working closely with Prime Ministers Thatcher, Major and Blair, he engaged his highly regarded analytical and negotiating skills to assist in positioning the UK on the global stage. His management skills also came to the fore as he was called on to manage the administration of the UK’s largest foreign mission.

From complex organization of ministerial visits such as the G8 to crisis management and contingency planning during the Israel/Lebanon war and in Afghanistan, Ian has seen the world as few have. His global perspective of challenges and opportunities is unique and positions him to view the world broadly.

Ian now enjoys a steady pace of life from his home in Cambridge, England but remains engaged in the business community as well as the Foreign Service through his well established network. A key source of insight and strategy, Ian is a vital contributor to the Rainmaker team.
